Letter From the President: July 2022

Summer is in full swing at CTA, and we’re so excited for our upcoming “Season of Stories.” Here’s what’s going on at CTA.

First, we are pleased to announce the roll out of our new website! Please visit and check out everything going on at our theatre.

Second, auditions for Roald Dahl’s “Matilda the Musical” are coming up this weekend. Please see “Matilda” Auditions for more information and to sign up for an audition slot.

Next, our summer production camps are rolling along, with the first, “Disney’s Descendants: The Musical,” up and running. Tickets to the show, running July 29 and 30, are just $5. Learn more and buy tickets here.

Following “Descendants,” the camp portion of “Footloose: Youth Edition” will start on August 11. You can also buy $5 for the shows on August 19 and 20. Learn more and buy tickets here.

Next, we’re so excited to being planning for CTA’s annual fundraiser, “For the Love of CTA.” After more than two years of COVID postponements, the event will be a great 21+ evening. Tickets include access to a fantastic silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, beer & wine, mystery boxes and a hilarious, riveting performance from mentalist Brian Curry, “The Good Liar.” Get your tickets here.

Additionally, we have started a special sale that will allow our audiences to own part of CTA with a seat-naming opportunity! Pick your favorite seat and/or row and get your name on our new theatre seats. Questions? Want to buy your seat now? Contact April Forrer at aprilforrer@childrenstheatreofannapolis.

BIG NEWS! CTA is growing their reach by making the annex into an environmentally controlled three-room building that would allow us to build our education program and extend our outreach to underserved families, and the largest space will be a black box theatre that will seat 100+. CTA will break ground with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:15 a.m. July 28. County Executive Steuart Pittman will be in attendance, and we would love to see you there!

Finally, with all that is going on at the theater, we are still struggling to come out of the COVID pandemic. Just when we thought the effects might be over, the theatre experienced a loss of $30,000 because we had to cancel two out of three planned weekends of “Annie.” Please consider donating to help us make up this loss. Your continued support will allow CTA to keep doors opens, supporting and fostering our mission, serving the child and the community.

From our family to yours,
Michelle Bruno
President, Children’s Theatre of Annapolis
